Look who's becoming domestic

That's right. It's me!

I don't know what has gotten into me, but I guess I am feeling the need to improve my skills in the kitchen.

These are none other than biscuits make from scratch.

Dan says we're never going back to the store bought biscuits that scare me every time (with the popping noise) when I try to open them.

Then to top it all off we had homemade raspberry jam made by yours truly.

If you have never made jam before because you think that it's too hard....GO DO IT! It really is surprisingly easy. (Thanks Mom for teaching me!)

And here is our little biscuit-eater. I think she ate like two or three of them by herself.

I Can't Believe It

Alayna took a 4 hour nap!

I felt like I had a newborn again.

It was FABULOUS...only I had to keep checking on her to make sure she was breathing.

Now, if she could just give me a little heads up next time, maybe I could plan my time a little better. :)

My Little Bro

Now that I have my camera cord... (Well, I never actually found MY camera cord. My Mom had an extra one that fit our camera. Thanks Mom!)

It is time to reminisce about by little brother coming home from Guatemala.

Although it has been over a month since he came home, I still forget that he is really here and just a phone call away. (I guess that is what happens when you are gone for two years.)

Adam was scheduled to fly into Cheyenne airport around 9:45pm. Due to getting some last minute preparations, (such as making signs, a banner, getting balloons, and getting ready) we were running a little late. Which ended up leading to sprinting through the parking lot and bursting through the airport doors. Only to find out a few minutes later that Adam was not even on his flight.

Yep. No Adam.

Surprisingly my Mom and Dad took it well.

Though, needless to say, we were quite bummed. Our grand entrance was for nothing. We did get a lot of stares as we held up signs and balloons for a person that wasn't even on the flight.

This picture just about sums up our feelings. I was quite sad and Alayna was quite tired.

After several phone calls, we tracked down Adam and found out he was in Denver. There was a mix up with the tickets. We decided it wasn't that much farther down to Denver, so we would just drive down and get him.

The wait was totally worth it though!

Here we are in the Denver airport. I couldn't believe he was really there.

Most of the night Alayna just stared at him. She was trying to figure out who he was and what all of the excitement was about.

I just have to say that I love this guy. Isn't he cute? (But girls, you are just gonna have to wait. My mom doesn't want him dating for awhile. :)

I am so glad he is back. He is the same ol' Adam, just a little older and with a Spanish accent. :)

We love you, Adam.

10 Months

With all the chaos of moving, I completely forgot to post about Alayna being 10 months old.

Dan suggested that I just wait until her 11 month post and skip this month since she is almost 11 months, but what kind of a mother would I be if I didn't post about her being 10 months?!

Better late than never, right?

I feel like she is becoming less of a little baby and rapidly approaching toddlerhood. Although, I still consider her my baby.

Dan and I have noticed that she is a bottom-less pit. If it was up to her, she would eat pretty much anything and everything (except for baby food. She apparently is beginning to think she is too big for baby food). But her favorite is bread. It doesn't matter what kind. Just bread. Muffins, toast, banana bread. You name it.

She is not getting any chubbier from all the eating, but I definitely think she is getting longer.

And she has gotten a nice baby pot belly. Why is it that babies can have the cutest pot bellies, but adults can't? Probably because everything is cuter on a baby.

Here's the proof.

Over the past couple of weeks, Alayna has been doing this cheesy smile where she wrinkles her nose. It is so funny. I have tried countless times to capture it on camera because it really is too funny, but I have failed. This is closest I have come. If you look closely, her nose is slightly wrinkled.
Oh, and get a load of those chompers. Her two front teeth are in. They have a huge gap between them. I am ok with it as long as the gap doesn't stay. But once again, everything is cuter on babies. Along with her cheesy smile, she has developed a more social personality. She will wave to anyone, whether they are looking at her or not. She specifically enjoys waving (and talking) to kids.
She has also said her first word. Hi. It is only every now and again that she will say it, but it is very clear and somewhat high pitched.
Along with her first word, she has signed her first sign. She has been watching Baby Signing Time for a couple of months now. And she now has officially signed "more". She won't do it all the time and has to be prompted, but she can do it.

Napping has become one of her strengths. The length of her nap isn't always great, but she puts herself to sleep like a champ.
When I hear the cute little Alayna jabber at the end of a nap, this is what I walk in to find.
A smiling, happy baby (most of the time).

Alayna has also learned how to click her tongue and grind her teeth. The clicking her tongue is rather cute, but the grinding her teeth is not so great. We are quickly trying to break this habit that unfortunately comes from her mom.
And after 10 months of life, Alayna got her first cold EVER. It wasn't too bad, but not something we want her to get all the time either.
Even though her nose was a little runny, she still gave the camera a smile. Look at that CRAZY hair!

And lastly, (you are awesome if you are still reading by this point) Alayna is walking while holding on to things. It won't be long before she takes that first step. Yikes!
Here she is standing up in front of the TV. She LOVES to push all the buttons. We don't necessarily love it so much.

Only a month and a half before our little Layna turns one. I can't believe it!

Deja Vu

I feel like I am having deja vu.

(And I NEVER have deja vu.)

Remember how we just moved to Casper like a month ago?

Well, we are all unpacked and settled. The apartment is decorated.

But now we are moving to an apartment the next stairwell over.

Why?

Our downstairs neighbor smokes in the apartment (which apparently is totally fine in this apartment complex) causing our apartment also smell like smoke.

Can you say yuck?!

So, in the best interest of Alayna's health as well as our own, we are moving.

What a pain.

But I will admit, it will put my mind at ease concerning Alayna and I am more than ecstatic to live in a house where I won't have to hold my breath all the time.

And not to mention no more headaches due to the smoke! Yea!

We have experienced moving across town and out of state, now we get to experience moving next door. I have a feeling this one will be the worst one yet, even though it is the closest.

But on the bright side, I am going to get a lot of exercise going up and down the stairs. Who knows, maybe I will lose a little weight.

Oh, and by the way, I probably will be slacking on my blogging since we will have to get hooked up to the internet again once we are all moved. Ugh.

But maybe by then I will find the camera cord. (Yep. Still no cord.)

Go Figure

We FINALLY got the internet today!

Yea! Now I can feel like I live in the 21st century.

Only now.....

I can't find the stinking camera cord!

So forget about seeing any of the pictures I have taken in the last month.

Dang.

It has to be here somewhere. I have been going crazy trying to find it. I have just about looked EVERYWHERE (including the bathroom).

If you were a camera cord, where would you be?

He's Back!

My little brother, Adam, just came back from serving a 2 year mission in Guatemala!

It was so great to see him. He looks great!

Unfortunately I left my camera (with all my pics on it) at my parents house so you will have to wait a little to see all the pictures.

And we won't have Internet for another week and a half (I am currently using the Internet at the public library).

Just had to update and let everyone know how excited we are that Adam is back!
