Baby Shower

Today is my sweet sister-in-law, Alicia's, due date.  Bless her heart.  I know how that is.  In fact, when I sent her a text earlier today to tell her I was thinking of her, it sent me into reminiscing about my due dates.   Some I never made it to.  Those can be the hard ones.  (But don't worry, I won't go there.)  And others I made it to, (and beyond).  It can be hard to be the one that goes past her due date.  But no one is pregnant for forever.  And as my sister and I say, it's easier to take care of a baby when they're inside, than when they're out.  :)  

And, babies are definitely worth waiting for!

Anyway, this post is actually about the shower that my mom, sisters, and I threw for Alicia.  There was delicious food, fun games, adorable gifts for baby boy, a cute pregnant lady, and fun had by all.

And a close up of part of my gift to the little guy.  Bowties.  Every girl gets to dress up for church by wearing hair accessories.  Why can't little boys look snazzy by wearing a bowtie?  Now, just try and tell me those aren't cute.  :)

When a Saturday is a Saturday

Our family is quickly adjusting to "normal" life.  Or life where the husband works a M-F schedule.  I still have some kinks to work out, but we are loving Dan's new schedule! 

And one of my favorite parts is the fact that weekends are weekends.  You know, where Friday nights are something I look forward to (the hubby and I can watch a movie after the kids are in bed).  And Saturdays are spent getting much needed projects done.  Where the husband does manly things like changing oil and fixing battery cables in the car and I do some organizing, deep cleaning and decorating.  And then we do some fun things as a family, like go to parades together.  (I think this was the first parade Dan went to in over a year and a half.) 

Alayna was in heaven.  A parade AND her daddy.  What more can this girl ask for?

She even struck a pose for the camera.  Oh, how I love this girl.

The inseparable duo.  Alayna obliged me with another smile.  But Dan, well, not so much.

Suffice it to say, we are LOVING the fact that weekends are weekends around here.  I should add that the best part is going to church EVERY.SINGLE.SUNDAY with my love.  Ah, there's nothing better than that.

You can't tell me kids aren't observant

In the midst of organizing the house, I looked down to see this.

You can't tell me that kids don't notice things.  This is proof that my child does not miss a thing.

Sunday

Sometimes you just have to take a picture of your darlings in their Sunday best.

And then occasionally (or more like close to never) you have to take a picture of yourself in your Sunday best.  With one of your darlings, of course.

We've got a chees-er on our hands.  (Two in fact, but this post is about the oldest one.)

Sometimes Alayna likes to share her Rapunzel sunglasses with Brylen.

And sometimes Alayna is SO tired she falls asleep standing up.

Petite

We've learned this baby is indeed petite.

Miss Brylen weighs 11 pounds 2 ounces (2nd percentile) and is 25 1/2 inches long (76th percentile).  

She's one long, skinny baby, but she's still dang cute.
